Buzz's jewelry has a tribal flavor to it, for the most part, which is what really attracted me to his work. I have the priviledge of owning a few of his items, which are very well made. Some of his pieces harken back to the 60's, while others have a Native American flair. He also integrates flavors of celtic, and eastern jewelry, and even some victorian. His prices are definitely a bargain for the quality you receive. These pieces are made to withstand "my bluecollar life" as Buzz puts it.

OLD WORK TURQUOISE AND BLACK BRACELET is a piece Buzz did in 1996. Made with turquoise and black glass "E" beads, it's definitely after the Native American style.

NANTUCKET SLEIGHRIDE NECKLACE features a humpback whale pendant on goatskin which Buzz has knotted nicely. It also has engraved bone beads which, to me, give it a Northwestern tribal flair. Very nice.

BLACK VICTORIAN NECKLACE AND EARRINGS is a delicate piece, featuring a beautiful flower pewter pendant, laced with faceted jet beads, and swarovski crystals.

Visiting Shannon's etsy shop almost made me want to have another baby, just to be able to wrap him/her in one of her big, soft, colorful blankets. If you're frustrated with trying to swaddle your baby with those tiny, store-bought blankets, consider purchasing one from cuddlebaby instead. You can even buy matching onesies for most of the blankets, and there are a few matched sets to make it even easier for you. Shannon also has handmade dresses for the toddler set, as well as skirt and onesie sets for your infant. Pacifier clips and burpies round out the items she offers in her shop, but her selection of blankets is amazing. She has several styles, including a nursing blanket that has a weighted attachment on one corner to keep it from falling off while nursing baby. Very useful! Step into Yasmin's etsy shop and the first thing that hits you is... COLOR!! It is lively, vibrant, HAPPY with color! This Jersey girl, who moved to LA, and back again, picking up an education in Fine Art -Painting at Otis Art Institute, has got to be a very good-natured person, judging from her art. She says of her art, "I consider my art to be an aesthetic conversation. A lovely chat between friends sometimes relaying a story or an inside joke. The only judgement I make with my art is “am I feeling this or not.” The “not” pile gets recycled for another day." A very lighthearted view, which is reflected in the lighthearted scenes she sometimes depicts in her artwork.
Take "Nightwalk - 4x4 Canvas" for instance. Doesn't it just make you smile? This is one of several in a series depicting different animals - or sometimes the same animal - in various scenes and colors.
"Butterflies - 3 Pendants for the price of 2" is one of many sets of bamboo pendants that Yasmin makes. The subject matter varies greatly, so you're sure to find something you like.

Karen Jinks, etsy shopkeeper of Kala.etsy, chalkhillstudio.etsy, and co-"keeper" of upwiththelark.etsy, is from Cambridge, UK. Not only does she make and sell her beautiful items on etsy, she also has a website she sells from, and is a mother of two. Busy lady!! She does wonderful illustrations, mini-collages, and photography, among other crafts and arts. She says, "I love to create and have trouble deciding what to do so I usually end up trying to a bit of everything from painting to jewellery making and crochet." These items are from her Kala.etsy shop, but do check out her other shops for a wide variety of items. Her hand-stitched books are so beautiful! They seem to be very popular too, as there was only one available at the time I looked through her shops, but her feedback has lots of great comments on how nice the ones she's sold are.

Accomplished artist Tiffany Teske has made Banff, Alberta, Canada her home - for now. She has lived in many places, including a small town in Maine, Carrabassett Valley, population 200. She settled in there for 5 years, commuting 1.5 hours each way, 2-3 times a week to Augusta's University of Maine to earn her Associate of Art degree in Photography, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Joint BA in Art and Photography as well. Tiffany uses different processes to get a unique "feel" to her prints. She describes these processes in the description of the item. This, "The Cold Heart of the Sun", is what she calls an Original Polaroid Emulsion Lift. She has "lifted" the image onto handmade paper, which she also used to mat it.
"Lilac Dream - SALE - 4x6 Fine Art Photograph on 5x7 Card" is worthy of being framed and displayed, but at a greeting card price it's a great deal!

I went to Eva's website before going to her etsy shop, just to get a feel for who this lady is. I found that she is very funny and witty, has a huge heart - for animals and people alike, and it very, very talented in putting together some really fine jewelry. The fact that she buys lampwork beads from a few fellow etsians is also a plus.

"Make Every Day Your Lucky Day" says this Lucky Girl on etsy. You'll feel pretty lucky, too, if you go pick out a sparkly and/or very colorful thing to be sent to become your very own! Her items just have a lively energy when you look at them.

"The Joy of Pink Temari" is such a cool little, colorful item. I don't really know how she makes these, but they are awesome looking. She has many in her shop, all in different colors and designs.
"Kumihimo Flower Pattern Choker Necklace" is another fascinating method this Lucky Girl uses to make something beautiful. A type of braiding with 16 cords of satin makes up this pretty choker.
"I Will Give You the Moon and the Stars Pendant" has a sparkly mica moon and star decorating a beautiful, black glass pendant. This would make a lovely necklace or choker for a special night out.

First off, I would like to start by telling you a few things about getting this blog together today. When I first went in to little brown bird's etsy shop, I started scrolling down the page to see what she is offering there. As I had just fixed myself a delicious mocha to enjoy while perusing her shop, my eye caught the word "mocha" in one of the titles. I thought that was kinda neat and kept scrolling. A little further down was "Rainy Day...", which is what it is here today. I decided the coincidences were even better being two, so I chose those two items to feature, then went on to find a third. Now I'm looking with an eye for today, plus it needed to be something different than another necklace or earrings. When I spied the word "Jasmine", I knew it had to be, since I had just text messaged my daughter, Jasmin, about 10 minutes prior to going to little brown bird.
Okay, so the reasons for choosing these items wasn't my usual way of picking my favorites, but as you can see by going to Mary Ryan's shop, that would be a very hard thing to do. She has lots of nice things to choose from and you can surely find several items without even looking hard. That cherry blossom silver ring just jumps out at you first thing, for example, and who wouldn't love that one?

To me, it is reminiscient of the new(?) style called steampunk. Tribal and earthy, with a bit of "machinery". The copper disc reminding me of a washer perhaps.

Some of the newer additions to their shop are woodworked items that Beau, the husband of the team, makes by hand. "The Rising Sun Handcrafted Keepsake Box" is a beautiful box for keeping your trinkets in.

I know it's out of season, but I just had to show this. "The Autumn Harvest" is a wall-hanging that Aly, the wife of the team, made by applique. The frame was made by Beau, so this is truly a team project. Very nice!

I love the feathery detail along the sides of this ring as well. Alternate Bliss is a shop full of whimsy, and memories, and stories in art. The silver pendants and earrings she makes are her own works of art. Marilyn says this about her bead "habit", "I became a non-stop beadweaver when I purchased 3 vintage cigarboxes full of beads at a flea market---about 20 years ago. Kathryn Short, a photographer and all-around artist, also enjoys bookmaking and knitting. She also teaches art and photograpy at the high school level, for which I give her much kudos.

This knit hat is made with wool and acrylic yarns in bold turquoise and pink on a grey background. Keep your noggin warm in style with this or one of many different colors she carries. Some also have matching wristwarmers available as well.

This hand bound book is made using the cover from an old book on toys as its own cover. Kathryn has hand stitched blank pages into the cover. A few of the original pages also remain to make it truly an unique and colorful sketchbook or journal.

Kathryn 's photograph's evoke a feeling of stopped time. By developing with iron added during processing, it gives the photos that sepia-tone look from bygone days. Only the silhouette of the children's riding pony inside the barn gives it away that this photo was not taken in the 1800's.

An avid gamer, Lauren has designed many items with gaming themes. Her perler bead items include a coaster set featuring Super Mario characters, a business card holder featuring a design of a Nintendo NES controller, and my personal favorite, a bank that resembles a Coin Block from Nintendo's Super Mario Brothers.

Lauren, who resides in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, also makes beautiful button pins from Japanese washi paper and Chiyogami (Yuzen). Her brief description of this type of paper says that the paper designers would pattern the paper after wealthy and fashionable ladie's kimonos. Most of her descriptions of her buttons include stories and explanations of the subject matter. These in themselves are very entertaining. The one pictured below features cranes, which are a popular Japanese subject symbolizing long life. Her buttons would be perfect to dress up a purse, hat, sweater, or coat.

This talented young lady also knits and crochets various items. (How much talent can one person have? - Lots apparently) Her pouches for handheld game systems seem to be a big seller. She also has a few very colorful scarves, a poncho, and this panta headband which I've noticed has gotten rave reviews in her feedback, such as thislittlebird's comment "wonderfully warm and well made.
